Ronnie Schildknecht a candidate for the podium in Hawaii
Ronnie Schildknecht, the winner of the Ironman Switzerland in Zürich (2007) is part of the Swiss long-distance A team. Since 2002 Ronnie has been racing many Ironman races always placed among the first ten: 7th Ironman Florida 2002, nineth Ironman Südafrika 2005, 8th Ironman South Africa 2006, 5th Ironman Switzerland 2006, 1st Ironman Switzerland in Zürich 2007 and 1st Ironman Zürich 2008.
2008 the Swiss guy missed the podium at the Ironman world championship in Kona, Hawaii by a few seconds only. With 8:21:46 hours he was only 23 seconds slower than Rutger Beke who came third. The enthusiastic cross-country skier and tennis player Schildknecht lives in Thalwil by the Zürich lake.
In Zürich Ronnie will probably win the Ironman Switzerland 2009 for the third time. He is currently in perfect form that he underlined again in Rapperwil at the Ironman 70.3 with a 1st place. He is also mentally a very strong athlete and able to cope with stress and keep cool in special situations of the pressure and expectations.
