I should have used the dog-walker instead

This morning was a wonderful morning for my Saturday morning run! For February it was very mild and windless, birds were singing, the woodpecker was active, birds of prey were silently gliding through the forest, great atmosphere. The sun cut through the trees and painted beautiful images on the soil. I felt great, the pains in my right heel and under my toes that I feel since many weeks, were perfectly under control. I was happy and thought, »okay, just continue running, concentrate on your body posture and the pains will subside by itself.«
It was almost at the end of the course which takes me usually around 105 to 110 minutes when it happened. I ran up the last steep hill, and then down… »almost done«, I thought. I had to climb over a few fallen trees still there from the last storm. Suddenly I stumbled on something, took up speed, and thought… »yeah, you get it and regain your balance«.
But then a sharp pain pierced through the backside of my thigh… I toppled. That was it. I tried to get up, painful, anyhow, as I usually do, if I fall, I try to continue running… I overstrechted my knee joint, I could not bent it, lost complete control over my legs. Again I fell like a stick… I set down in severe pain. What to do? I still had to cover quite a distance to reach the car. And of course, in this area there is nobody far and wide. After I while got up and continued my way cautiously. Almost deep-frozen I arrived at the car round about 40 minutes later.

My friend waited, quite worried already. At home, I did what one has to do half frozen. I took a hot shower. Diagnosed myself as having a muscle rupture, swallowed some painkillers and a Vioxx (I still have some left from the days when they were still in market, I couldn’t care less). I made myself a high-dose biestmilch drink.

Since then I try to find a way to position my body with as little pain as possible. Sitting at my desk writing this is rather painful, I have to admit. But what bothers me most is, how long will I be forced to sit still? I am very bad in sitting still!

I bumped into this dog-walker just recently on engadget.12707dog_walker_2

Perhaps I should consider this stuff as an alternative ;-). Herewith I follow one of my principles: Even if you are in pain, it is easier to cope with it with a smile.

Susann

Susann

Susann is the biest prototype and head of the team. She is Austrian, has studied medicine, meaning she is a medical doctor and the Biesters' alpha wolf. Susann continuously produces new ideas, is strong in making concepts and is practically always ON FIRE. Without her BIESTMILCH wouldn't be where and what it is today, and anyway - not possible.

Endurance training alone is not good enough!

  1. Lieber im Wald sterben als auf so ein Teil gehen! Hoffe es ist nicht zu schlimm! Grüße Harry.
