»Did you know?« is an official update to the original “Shift Happens” movie from Karl Fisch & Scott McLeod, including new & updated statistics. Some of the figures are really breath-taking. It is beyond imagination what life on this globe will be like when things speed up more and more, and more and more living creatures are going to be left behind, even though they all own their own computer, have accounts on MySpace, Facebook,YouTube… one name it.
Whether there will be a computer one day who is superior to the human mind, I doubt it. I am not a futurist, and I don’t believe in endless progress or in the continuity of progress. And what the heck, is increasing speed really progress? And how do we think quantity and quality, their tight interdependence, the relation between the two. Does quantity to a certain extent produce quality? Bloody philosophical issue, isn’t it? 😉
