Every Thurday Sailfish wetsuits is organizing a swim training for agegroupers at the lake where the swimming of Ironman European Championship takes place. It is an event that is well accepted by triathletes. Yesterday around 80 people have been at the lake. Swimming is mostly the weakest discipline of athletes, and Jan Sibbersen as the holder of the world record in Kona, Hawaii is without any doubt the right person to give good advices and special hints to the already excited agegroupers.
Yesterday Chris came there to swim as a special add-on and surprise for the guys. Chris sand I agreed to meet there at 7:00pm. But who was not there? Of course, it was Chris. I was worried, because I knew that he had to drive from North of Limburg (ca. 90K) to the little lake that is located quite hidden in the forest surrounding the city of Frankfurt. The guys had already disappeared into the water, when Chris arrived with Paul Ambrose. Chris was already a little bit hacked off. It was 7:20 and swimming activities close officially at 8:15pm. Press was waiting, Jan was waiting, and the rest of the crowd was excited to have Chris there. Within a second his mood had consolidated again, and there he was in his matchless way of being.
Chris had tried his very best to be there in time, but sadly enough the navigation systems around the world don’t know that lake, so they send you to Langen, a town close by. Once you are there you are lost, and it is difficult to find the way.
The day ended very relaxed in a Spanish restaurant with lots of Tapas. Thank you to Jan who invited us all.
