Finish lines can be “biesty” creatures until you have crossed them.
Behind the Biestmilch crew were lying two hard weeks of work with late nights and early mornings. So getting up at race day was not a big deal for us. Race day is always special for us. On the one hand we feel this relief that the job is done, on the other hand the body is pumped with excitement whether the race will meet our hopes and expectations. With Chris, Sebi, Ronnie, Andi and last but not Rachel we had top guys racing, expectations were high.
Today all of us know that things turned out slightly different. Macca had a DNF, Ronnie got over-heated and had to slow down, Andi ran into a row of unlucky incidents, and Rachel was definitely not yet in top form after her chest infection during race week. Only Sebi hit the point, even though he had a flat, he already showed in his first Kona race that he is an exceptional athlete, a real racer with lots of guts.
At the end of the day when the cows had all come home we have been exhausted but happy, and ready to come back to Kona in 2013. This short finish line video gives a good impression of the emotions our guys where in crossing the line.
