After Island Day N° 1 when we have been setting out to South Point more in a daze than with all our senses present, we went on the road again yesterday to investigate whether the plans we developed this time for the Island are going to pass the reality test.
This is always a very exciting process to see whether the proof of concept can be made. So we had a long and intense day tracing our ideas in the real world.
We shall not open the Pandora Box yet. It is still too early for that. Some more snippets are needed to let you know more about our Island projects. One never knows whether we have to discard part of it.
If one is venturing out into unknown territory, there are always surprises like little pearls at the wayside waiting for you.
Driving through this beautiful clear morning on the empty Old Highway from our home at Holualoa to Waimea, we spotted a lonely cyclist. You may say, how can this be something special, especially during IRONMAN time. Yes, it can.
Kjell was shouting out: „This can only be Sebi. He is the only one who can ride a bike with this kind of explosive power and harmony.“ And it was Sebastian Kienle. What a joy to meet out there. We know each other now for 8th years, and are not only collaborating but we also became good friends. What an impressive personality he became through all these years.
His whole body shows that he goes for the win this year. Each fiber seems to be ready for the job. If I didn’t know him so well, I would feel a little bit scared. You see a true warrior in front of you. It will be exciting to see which role he will play on Oct. 11, the race day.
After this pleasant encounter we continued to look for the ranch we had picked and see whether the place suits our plans. The place is owned by Hawaiians, very special and far from mass tourism, the people a bit rough-and-ready, but authentic. It seems a good place for our enterprise. Horses play a central role in this, but more about this later.
Our other goal on day 2 was to check the time needed from Holualoa to Hawi taking road 250 through Waimea, on a and a half hours. We should be able to make to the turnaround… But we haven’t checked all the variables of our concept yet. So we leave you in suspense 😉 and return back to you later in the week.
Cheers guys!
PS: there was a little surprise in Hawi waiting for us!
