Kona 2011
It was a few days before the race when we accompanied the two on the highway and in the Energy Lab. Both Yvonne and Ronnie have been in a good mood and had a really nice time training together. It doesn’t happen that often in triathlon’s pro business that a boy and a girl train in such harmony.
I guess they had no clue that the upcoming race day wouldn’t be their day. Maybe they had but they would not have been able to see the signs on the horizon. Only afterwards you know better.
Watching Ronnie Schildknecht and Yvonne van Vlerken training together in Kona is very inspiring, especially now when you have to train at minus 10°C and more, because you can’t leave for warmer areas in Europe or elsewhere … enjoy!
Both of them are confident today and will be back in Kona 2012
