Beach-Start or in-Water-Start? BIEST BOOSTER Experiment?

Planning for Frankfurter Sparkasse IRONMAN European Championship on July 8, 2012 is going into its final phase, the BIESTMILCH Special is entering its 2nd round.

Dear athletes,

we are planning a poll!

After the positive feedback we have received regarding the swim start at IRONMAN Regensburg, where swimming started with a Beach-Start into the lake Guggenberger, we are considering the same procedure for Frankfurt at the Langener Waldsee: sending you with a Beach-Start into this long day. The swim course remains basically the same. The area and the width for a Beach-Start are sufficient.

What do you think? In-Water-Start or Beach-Start?

Susann is the biest prototype and head of the team. She is Austrian, has studied medicine, meaning she is a medical doctor and the Biesters' alpha wolf. Susann continuously produces new ideas, is strong in making concepts and is practically always ON FIRE. Without her BIESTMILCH wouldn't be where and what it is today, and anyway - not possible.

  1. WATER start for sure 😉 …beach start is just a slaughter for average/good triathlete (tested at Regensburg 2011 !)

  2. Water is by far the better option as a beach start is just a stampede and really rough for most athletes except the best swimmers.

  3. It has to be a water start, much safer and a better way for the athlete to position themselves in accordance of their swim ability not their run ability. It is a swim after all not a run/swim plus enough running in the 26.2 mile at the end.

  4. Water start but most important it should be a start by seperate waves (linked to age grouped) like in Antwerp 70.3 which makes it much safer for everybody.

  5. Beach start. a 100 mt run won´t afect anybody.
    Also vote for separate wave start based on category.

  6. Water start for sure!!! Sure everyone needs a wee just before the start, so a water start is just what (wee) need 🙂
