Cannes is a world-wide known brand as the mayor of Cannes, Mr. Lisnard proudly mentioned, but it is also a town with »real people« who love sports.
A fact that is not easy to discover unless your are up early strolling along the Croisette.
The Cannes triathlon took place for the 2nd time exactly one month before the world’s famous film festival. The preps of the festival were already running at full throttle. Beside these activities the triathlon feels tiny and almost lost on the other side of the bay. Two of the big motor yachts make up for the whole expo village, or maybe only one?
But the place was nice, the atmosphere relaxed. You could move around freely and the stars were all seizable ;-), a big difference to the situation a month later when stars and starlets are strutting down the red carpet.

I went there to meet Sebastian. It should be his first race of the year competing against Jan Frodeno, always a smart couple to watch racing. Sebastian was jumping on the course right from the training camps in Fuerteventura and Los Palamos, therefore not expecting to much of himself.

Race day was cold, windy with occasional rain, not ideal for the demanding bike course. For us spectators was only the run along the Croisette accessible. But 4 running laps compensated for not being able to follow the guys on their bikes. In the end Giulio Molinari from Italy won, Jan came in 2nd, Sebastian 3rd, 90 seconds behind him.

But now I let the picts speak, especially in this town the express much more than all my words.
