Sebastian Kienle at 70.3 IRONMAN California – The story of the video
I had taken a 2 days break from my breakdance lessons to shoot Sebi in Oceanside. At 4:00 am on Saturday I was rushing from LA to Oceanside. We had underestimated the time it takes to drive these 120k. Yes, we experienced profoundly what it means to commute in the LA area. To be safe we had to leave that early, as I had promised dear Sebastian to take his bag after having checked in.
We were there in time, but the whole day felt hectic. Not so familiar with the area – I had only checked it out the day before – I was permanently afraid to lose track of him. The video reflects this stress quite well I think.
Then – I’m sure you know – he had the incident with the flat tire. Finally I started to inhale deeply. It was a mixture of frustration and relaxation that caught me as the tension escaped my body. The day ended Sebastian and myself sitting on a wall at shoreline recalling the day and shaking off the disappointment. Yes, if your name is Sebastian Kienle only a win counts, unfortunately. Even though Sebi was happy that his run felt good, the shape is already there!
